WELCOME TO THE PAINTINGS OF KEN SHUEY
There are certain places in the world where all the shapes and forms and colors come together in such harmony that we are attracted to them. When we enter into these places, we feel so natural there that we're sure we've been there before. In Asia they make shrines of such places. We Americans make them national parks. Seeing that special potential in every day evirons and finding their spirit by moving paint around on a canvas is what "plein air impressionist" painters strive for.
The best way to really know something -- anything -- is to draw it. Drawing is seeing. When you draw or paint something you get to know it intimately. There is great joy in standing out under the sky trying to capture the feeling of standing out under the sky -- you never can, but you can have a great time trying. I hope you like my paintings and drawings. --K.S.
